Now let's talk about Prakashbhai Suthar who is working as a teacher in Kanjeli Primary School in Sabarkantha district.

A few years ago in his school he experienced the problem that the science subject seemed too difficult to the students. Prakashbhai brainstormed a lot and started a new experiment. The school did not have a separate laboratory for science, but if each child got to experiment they could better understand the concepts through self-experimentation.

their only bay was to create tools for children to do these experiments at the least cost. He made about 100 science toys and the kids just had a lot of fun as well as the science subject became interesting and had a direct impact on their academic achievements.

Prakashbhai started this experiment in many schools of the state without limiting it to his own school and also presented it on various platforms and spread it to many teachers. Onadbhai Khalasi works as a teacher in Bhagad Primary School in Navsari district.

As per the decision of the core committee, considering the state of transition of cores in the state, all government and private schools in Std. 1 to 9 across the state will be closed from Monday 5th April till further notice or order. All schools will have to implement these instructions. Chief Minister Rupani has taken this decision in the core committee meeting with the objective of wider interest of the students of the state and control of transition of cores.

The board exam is starting from May 4

The board exams are starting from next May 4, so some rules have been made by the education department to keep the students away from the transition to corona. If a student finds fever, cold, cough and temperature high during the board exams of standard 10 and 12, the student will be kept in a separate room so that there is no danger of infection in any other student. However, in view of the current situation, some new rules may be implemented by the Board of Education at the time of examination.

Schools were closed again on March 18

Amidst the outcry in the state, the government had decided to stop offline education in schools in 8 metros from March 18. Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that 8 Municipal Corporations namely Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh and Direct education will be closed in all primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in Gandhinagar from March 19, 2021 to April 10. Online education-home learning will be given in the schools of these 8 Manpa area as well as the first examination will be taken online in the secondary and higher secondary schools.

Offline education began in January and Feb.

Earlier, Std 10 and 12 schools were opened from January 11, following which Std 10 and 12, PG and last year's college classes were started. Then in the state std. Schools for 9th and 11th were started on 1st February as well as classes for standard 9th to 12th and competitive examinations were allowed. After the reopening of schools and colleges from 9 to 12, the state government's education department announced the resumption of classroom education for first-year students in colleges from February 8

To help improve the ecological system of Ghana, through forestation, reforestation and tree-growing, and in commemoration of this year’s International Day of Forests, a campaign dubbed: ‘One Man, One Tree’ was, yesterday, launched in Accra.

The occasion, which was organized by the Forestry Commission (FC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, formed part of activities marking this year’s Forestry Week celebrations.

The celebrations, the fourth in a series, started with an inter-school quiz competition dubbed: ‘Catch Them Young’, which aimed to test the knowledge of the students on forestry issues and to sensitize the youth, as future policy makers, on the need to act responsibly to protect the forests.

Achimota Senior High School (SHS) emerged winners in the competition in which, Amasaman Technical High School, Ghanatta SHS and Presbyterian Boys SHS participated.

Other activities lined up for the celebration are a National Colloquium on Forests Investment Opportunities and Climate Change and a Workshop on Legal Education on Forests and Wildlife.

The celebration will be climaxed with a Grand Durbar and Greening Ghana Day.

The Forestry Week celebrations were launched in Ghana in 2011, pursuant to the UN Resolution on the establishment of the International Day of Forests and in consonance with the Government of Ghana’s ‘Greening Ghana Agenda’.

In an address to launch the ‘One Man, One Tree’ campaign, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Nii Osa Mills, pledged the support of the Ministry to the FC in the discharge of its mandate.

The Chief Executive of FC, Mr Samuel Afari Dartey, in a statement, reiterated the commitment of FC to implementing the US $ 300 million Achimota Eco-Park project to transform the Achimota forest into a world-class eco-tourism enclave, such as found in Kenya, Namibia and South Africa, to provide a great opportunity for eco-tourism and for revenue generation.

Mr Dartey, however, expressed regrets that the Plantation Development Project of FC had stalled due to lack of funds and appealed to government to intervene to help revive the project.

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of FC, Mr Eddie Prah, gave the assurance that the FC was ready to provide the leadership required to help sustain what was left of Ghana’s forest cover and to increase the tree cover of the country.

Mr Andy Osei Okrah, Chairman of the Planning Committee of the celebrations, urged Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Community-based Organizations (CBOs), Corporate entities, the general public and the media to support the ‘One Man, One Tree campaign to succeed in order to increase the nation’s forest cover for a healthy ecosystem.

The International Day of Forests, which is celebrated on March 21 of every year, is an annual event instituted by the United Nations General Assembly

Latest Circular regarding payment of interest at the rate of GPF on the amount of Legacy Fund under the New Enhanced Pension (NPS) Scheme

The government has declared interest rate on General Provident Fund and other similar funds for the October – December quarter. The Budget Division of Department of Economic Affairs, under the Ministry of Finance, has recently issued the notification that the fund accumulation at the credit of subscribers of General Provident Fund (GPF) and other similar funds will carry an interest rate of 7.1 per cent for the period October to December 2020. Therefore, the GPF interest rate from October 2020 to December 2020 is 7.1 per cent.

As per the website of The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the General Provident Fund (Central Services) Rules 1960 applies to all temporary government employees after a continuous service of one year, all re-employed pensioners (other than those eligible for admission to the Contributory Provident Fund ) and all permanent government employees.

Contributory Provident Fund Rules (India ), 1962 is applicable to every non-pensionable servant of the Government belonging to any of the services under the control of the President. The Rules provide for the withdrawal of advances or withdrawals from the CPF for specific purposes. As in GPF Rules, the CPF Rules also provide for Deposit Linked Insurance Revised Scheme.

The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pension has been receiving grievances from retired government servants for inaccurate and delayed GPF settlement, along with interest, on their retirement, due to frequent instances of missing credits in their GPF accounts.

The missing credits in General Provident Fund (GPF) were reported mostly by subscribers in their GPF statements, who during their service moved from one establishment to another or were assigned foreign deputation and also by officers of All India Service, who proceeded on deputation outside their cadres.

The Department observed that the GPF account is maintained by an establishment different from that generating their salary bills and deducting their GPF subscription.

Therefore, the Department states that a co-ordination mechanism between such two establishments is most crucial to avoid any lapses in updated maintenance of GPF accounts.

Earlier in 2020, the Department had issued an Office Memorandum (OM) taking the following steps:

In order to avoid such grievances and for the sake of greater transparency, it has henceforth been decided that,

A) it shall be mandatory for all offices maintaining GPF Accounts to intimate the particulars of missing credits, once every financial year, to the authority responsible for deducting the GPF subscription, under intimation to the concerned subscriber.
