Chief Minister of the state Mr.Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitin Patel have taken a number of decisions for the welfare of the poor and labourers amidst the lockdown due to COVID-19. Adding one more to the list, the CM announced that 66 lakh NFSA card holders will get a sum of Rs.1000 as financial aid under Gujarat Corona Sahayata Yojana for the month of April. Providing details about the decision of the CM, Secretary to CM Mr.Ashwani Kumar said, “ The decision has been taken in order to ensure that the poor and labourers have money to take care of their expenses amidst the lockdown.

A Common Services Portal (CSP – Digital Gujarat Portal) is a vision to provide one-stop solution for all G2C Services for citizens of Gujarat State. As a part of this vision, this Department intended to integrate Home Department, Women & Child Development ,Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Revenue Department, Education Department and Social Justice and Empowerment Department G2C Services in this application.

A sum of Rs.1000 will be deposited through DBT for 66 lakh NFSA beneficiaries. The state government will bear an additional burden of Rs.660 crores for the same. The eligible families are not required to fill any form of documentations for the same.

“Gujarat has about 20 lakh construction workers including both migrants from others states, and locals. Among the locals, about 70% are tribal people from Central Gujarat – areas like Dahod and Panchamahal,” said Vipul Pandya, the Director of Bandhkam Mazdoor Sangathan, a Gujarat-based civil rights organisation working for construction workers.
That about 6.34 lakh workers from that number are registered with the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

“However, though the government claims to have disbursing the amount, most especially tribal workers have complained they have not received the money,” he added.
